Aged for 7 months in 30% new French oak.

Full malolactic fermentation. No fining.

We carefully selected a tiny vineyard on Cairnmuir Road that produced only 2 tonnes of incredible fruit in 2024. Bannockburn was settled in the 1860s as a gold-mining town after land around the Kawarau River was found to be full of the mineral. Bannockburn's "man-made" soils have proved excellent for premium viticulture and, along with the naturally occurring schist and gravels and heavier sandy loam soils, have given growers excellent soil diversity in the area.
Bannockburn has one of the warmest, driest climates in Central Otago, a fact that has earned it the nickname "heart of the desert". Warm summers are followed by long autumns, although the harvest here can come almost a month earlier than in the cooler region like Gibbston.

A complex nose of passionfruit and guava, lime and mustard seed, and florals (of lavender). The wine has great texture, from time in oak and some lees stirring. Tropical fruits continue on the palate, with a little burnt orange and citrus pith grip. This wine is delicious on its own but extremely versatile, matching many different dishes, from summer salads to richer winter fare.

Open the bottle a few minutes before service at 10 - 12 degrees Celcius
