Tasting Notes

The 2024 Wild Irishman Macushla Pinot Noir is a wine of rare depth and elegance. ‘Macushla’, Gaelic for ‘my darling’, captures the soul of Gibbston with a level of complexity and concentration that feels almost unexpected from this cool-climate subregion.

Sourced from vineyards handpicked by Alan Brady for their ability to reflect Gibbston at its finest, this vintage opens with a compelling nose: lifted florals, raspberry, red and dark cherry, subtle wet stone, and a hint of charred oak. There’s a quiet intrigue here, aromatics that invite exploration.

The palate is focused and energetic. Red fruits lead with clarity, supported by bright acidity and finely woven oak. The mouthfeel is broad yet composed, with persistent tannins giving it structure and longevity.

The 2024 Macushla is contemplative now, but promises to evolve beautifully. A standout for any cellar, and a must for the serious Pinot Noir collector.
