Tasting Notes

Single vineyard. 100% hand-picked Bannockburn Sauvignon blanc fruit.
The fruit was 100% whole bunch pressed. Aged for 7 months in 30% new French oak. Full malolactic fermentation. No fining.

We carefully selected a tiny vineyard on Cairnmuir Road, that produced only 2 tonnes of incredible fruits in 2024. Bannockburn was settled in the 1860s as a gold-mining town after land around the Kawarau River was found to be full of the mineral. Bannockburn's "man-made" soils have proved excellent for premium viticulture and, along with the naturally occurring schist and gravels and heavier sandy loam soils, have given growers excellent soil diversity in the area.
Bannockburn has one of the warmest, driest climates in Central Otago, a fact that has earned it the nickname "heart of the desert". Warm summers are followed by long autumns, although the harvest here can come almost a month earlier than in the cooler region like Gibbston.

    There are no refunds available once we have dispatched the wine to you. We do not refund if the wine is faulty after opening. If your order has been packed incorrectly or is not what you paid for please let us know within 7 days of delivery so we can repack and send you the correct wine.

    Kinross will make every effort to ensure that your wine is shipped to your door quickly and efficiently, and on the above timetable.  However, we rely on third parties to undertake delivery, and as such delivery dates cannot be guaranteed. If you require delivery within time frames less than the above, please send an email to wine@kinross.nz and our team will try our best to complete the order in the time frame requested. This may increase delivery costs, and we will advise you if this is the case.
