Makers Notes

Crafted from 19-year-old vines in the limestone soils of the Waitaki Valley, this single-vineyard Pinot Noir reflects the distinctive character of one of New Zealand’s most intriguing wine regions. The fruit was harvested from the Q Wine Vineyard – a site originally planted by Jules Stephan in 2002, whose vision, alongside Jules Matthews, was to create wines that speak clearly of place and purity.

Hand-picked fruit was 100% de-stemmed, matured for 9 months in seasoned French oak, and bottled without fining – resulting in a vegan-friendly wine that highlights the natural structure and energy of Waitaki Pinot. The long, dry, semi-maritime growing season and limestone-rich soils contribute lifted aromatics, taut acidity and impressive finesse, producing a wine that is quietly powerful and deeply expressive of its origin.

Only 3,000 bottles crafted.

TASTING NOTES

Opening with wild berry, spice and subtle forest floor, the palate brings finesse and elegance supported by firm, fine tannins. Complex yet restrained, with a long, savoury finish. A pure reflection of the Waitaki Valley’s cool climate and limestone soils.
