TASTING NOTES

The grapes for this Pinot Noir hail from a sunny, steep slope at Lowburn, on the western banks of Lake Dunstan. The gravelly, fast-draining schist soils and diurnal temperatures during the last month of ripening have created this fine wine, which features rich, balanced fruit flavours while retaining a vein of refreshing Central Otago fruit acidity.

The 2023 HAWKSHEAD Lowburn ‘Shore Plover’ Pinot Noir is an honest portrayal of this terroir, with a beautiful medley of spicy blackcurrant, Doris plum, and violet floral aromatics. These aromatics give way to a warm, concentrated palate, showing elegance, balance, and depth.
