25 May 2024 - An Afternoon in Alexandra - With Wild Irishman Wines

Come join us for a very special afternoon in Alexandra, tasting the new and spectacular 2023 Pinot Noirs with the Godfather of Central Otago wine himself Alan Brady and his fellow Irishman and talented winemaker, Brian Shaw. You'll sample these stunning new wines and enjoy a chance to view their brand new facilities on the Wild Irishman Site a stone's throw from Clyde.

Brady planted the very first Pinot Noir grapes in Central Otago in 1981, one of many varieties he trialed at the dawn of what is now a booming industry. Brady believes our dry climate, stony soils and long cool autumns provide ideal conditions for these varieties. Now his 'retirement' project has taken a new path with the addition of Brian Shaw as business partner, growing the iconic Wild Irishman brand into one of the most respected in Central Otago.

This Open Day will offer you an informal behind the scenes chance to check out the Wild Irishman winery with the team, who will all be available to show you round the grounds and help you sample the latest release Pinot Noirs and current season white wines. You'll have first access to these rare single vineyard wines showcasing a sense of place and years of winemaking expertise, hear some cracking stories from Brian and Alan, as well as a sneak peek behind the vines of Wild Irishman's private estate, not normally open to the public. This is your chance to ask the winemakers in person all those questions you've always wanted to ask! You'll also have exclusive access to purchase wines not open to the public outside of the Harvest Celebration. There will be snacks and other refreshments available.
