Rich aromatics of black forest, earthy mushroom, nutmeg and fennel abound, with hints of dried rose petals, rose water and a brooding dark spice. A generous palate follows with flavours of dark cherry and chocolate, followed with light waves of caramel and brown sugar. An ethereal quality to the layered tannin structure is apparent, resulting from 100% whole bunch inclusion and careful cap management via hand pour over’s. A closely monitored post-fermentation maceration period was undertaken prior to pressing.
This wine is both unfined and unfiltered as we continue to explore and express the possibilities of our beautiful Central Otago region, from a very favourable vintage. The dark horse in the Coal Pit stable.
The first edition of Coal Pit ‘Bendigo’ Pinot Noir - an exciting project beyond our home sub-region of Gibbston and a chance to evolve and expand horizons.
The winemaking philosophy for Bendigo was heavily influenced by our winemaker’s time spent at Domaine Sylvain Pataille in Marsannay-la-Côte, AOC Côte de Nuits - arguably Marsannay’s best producer and an incredibly innovative and dynamic figure leading the way in new wave Burgundy producers.

Terms and Conditions
No refund will be made once we have dispatched the wine to you. We do not refund if the wine is faulty after opening. If your order has been packed incorrectly or is not what you paid for please let us know within 7 days of delivery so we can repack and send you the correct wine.
Kinross will make every effort to ensure that your wine is shipped to your door quickly and efficiently, and on the above timetable. However, we rely on third parties to undertake delivery, and as such delivery dates cannot be guaranteed. If you require delivery within time frames less than the above, please send an e-mail to wine@kinross.nz and our team will try our best to complete the order in the time frame requested.
